First post, take fourteen

I've written (and posted) my first entry a number of times. I normally let it sit there, online, for a few hours. Then delete it even though I know you can't delete anything once it's in the tubes. But I try to get it back.

So I thought for my 14th first post I would go over some of my favorite "first posts".

The best "first post" was just a transcript of a chat between myself and a friend. I'm not kidding. That was the whole post. I'm just grabbing random stuff and calling it my first post. Now let me mention, in my own defense, this chat with my friend had to do with his "spoon garden". That's not code for something else and it's not a 90's band from Seattle. It's really a flower bed in front of his house that he has pushed flea market spoons into. He has a crowbar garden as well, but it's smaller. I think people need to know about this guy. That was really more of a warning to the public than a "first post" I guess.

I had one where I put some captions on a picture of John McCain and Sarah Palin's first meeting. I think I had her calling him a douche bag for not knowing who she was. Hilarious. No?

Just a few weeks ago I drafted a post on how Ben Fold's new album, Way to Normal, was his White Album. I don't even know what that means, but was ready to go forward with it. I think that post involved too many beers. Although, that album does rock.

I had another first one that had something to do with Robert Scoble and Chris Pirillo talking about facebook video. That was a low point in first posts.

This is getting old. It's obvious why none of those became the official "first post". They sucked. I think I have always worried that that first post would define me or limit my writing. Or maybe I tried to make that first post set the tone and subject matter of the blog. So it had to be good. That's why I just kept writing and deleting. With this post, I've shown that it doesn't actually have to be good at all. And in the end, I think I have given myself an out. There is no first post. I'm starting with no real entry point. I like that.

So now I'm out there and I'm lovin it Jerry. Hopefully this blog will find direction. Hopefully I find things to keep writing about. I should be ok. That friend of mine with the spoon garden? ... He built a bike the size of an econoline van out of a IGA shopping cart, an old ten speed and a dining room table. And he raced it. I'm pretty sure I could fill 2 years worth of public warnings about him.
